Electronic Timer

Digital timer switches are used to control the operation of electrical appliances and/or machinery etc. based on a pre-programmed schedule of operation of such equipment/ appliances. This device is a programmable digital timer based on a microcontroller that can be programmed to schedule the on and off operation of any electrical appliance as per requirement even at odd hours without any human interference. The device is designed and programmed to be controlled through a timer relay switch. This timer switch allows you to set both the start and end time of any electrical appliance/equipment. That means, you can pre-program when to turn the appliance on and for what duration long you want it to be remained on and to shut off automatically thereafter even at odd hours without any human interference.

Operation of the timer

The timer gets inputs from the 12 push buttons. Their functions are described as follows:

TIME/ON/OFF: This timer device allows you to set the current clock time and both on and off time. When the timer is initially powered on, the device is in on condition and time on and off times are displayed. Pressing these button, you can set the present time, and on and off time on the LED display.

SELECT: This allows you to select between the on and off time settings as well as hour and minute digits. The selected digit is incremented by pressing the UP/DOWN TIME button.

Now let’s see how it works. Suppose, the present time is 18:00 hrs and the device connected to the relay switch is needed to be turned on 19:00 hrs and you want to run the equipment for say 6 hours from 19:00 hrs. You can set the ON time to 19:00 hrs. In this case, the off time would be 01:00hrs, in hh:mm format. Once the timer is started, the device will be turned on automatically at 18:00 hrs and will remain on for 6 hours. Thereafter it will turn off again automatically at 01:00 hrs i.e. after exact six hours. In case you want this program to remain, you need to keep the device ON and it would perform the same function regularly.

There is a provision of a built in chargeable cell to allow the clock to keep on ticking in case of a power failure or a changeover, thereby preventing the programmed event to erase.

Similarly, various devices can be installed on the respective circuits of various equipments’ to control the timings of their operations as per programmed schedules.
